Day 2 of the 60DWCC - Independence Day Begins

THL has not been taking public transport for a very long time because she has always been very dependent on her 'faithful" driver (yours truly) who will deliver her to the company transport waiting area - rain or shine. I am not sure if THL does appreciate the fact that many a time I have to force myself to wake up early in the morning (I do tend to work until 1 - 2 am at times) just to send her over but I have to admit that I have been secretly hoping for this unhealthy lifestyle to end. Ha...I am so glad it has ended and was I glad to finally see THL gaining her independence back...hurray!

5.45 am - This is the first time that THL has to wake up so early now that there is no personal driver to send her to the company transport waiting area. She will have to catch a public transport in time or else she will miss the company transport and waste a lot more time waiting for a cab, not to mention the peak hour rates and cab fare.

7.00 am - Yeah! It is not everyday that I have the chance to walk THL to the bus stop to wait for a bus (could not exactly remember the last time I did it) which will send her to the company transport waiting area. While it did hurt me a little to see her having to announce to all her colleagues that we have sold our car, it is also kind of comforting to know that she will now have more chance to lose some weight (hopefully).

THL had her fall last year and she had to go for a knee cap operation (2  metal screws were placed onto her knee cap to help tighten it up). And ever since her left leg and knee have been very weak and what's worrying is that fact that she has been putting on weight so fast that I thought she should have won an award for it. :P On a positive note, I do hope that she will lose some weight during this 60 days challenge. Fingers crossed. Lol!

More Time to Run

Now that I am finally relieved of my duty as a morning driver, I am happy that I now have the time to go for a short run every morning (except when it is raining obviously). Just like any typical car owners, putting on weight has become part of the deal since we tend to walk a lot lesser when we drive.

Did you know that car owners do not have the luxury of doing fun stuff likes climbing up bridges to cross the road, walking to bus stop/MRT stations, chasing the bus, escaping from the elements (rains, scorching sunlight) etc. Lol!!

5.50pm - RK and I were slightly drenched in a light drizzle (was too lazy to bring a brolly) on our way to the Lakeside MRT station. We have arranged with THL to meet up at a new shopping mall that is connected to the Jurong East MRT Station. We had a sumptuous dinner at a Thai restaurant - Bangkok Jam.

We walked around for a while before taking a MRT ride back to Jurong Point. We want to try our luck and check if there is any travel package left for December at the 3rd floor travel agency. To our disappointment, the most of the packages have already sold out, leaving behind a few tickets for places that will turn our stomach at the thought of it. :(

8.35pm - Since the weather was good, we walked down to the sheltered bus interchange and we finally settle down for a bus queue after walking around aimlessly (this happens when there are too many bus services to choose from). The bus ride was only a few stops and the 3 of us took a slow stroll home. Nice!

Transport Expenses: $4.11

MRT -> $1.09 (RK & Myself)
Bus Fare for Ling -> $0.83 + $0.73 = $1.56
Bus Fare for RK & Myself -> $0.73 x 2 = $1.46

Daily Afterthoughts

After being so dependent on a car for so many years, it is indeed refreshing to re-live the old lifestyle that we used to have (back to the time before we own our first car). I have no idea if both THL and RK will share my sentiments on this but it is my hope that both of them will slowly live out their "car-dependency" syndrome soon.
