60 Days Without Car Challenge

After having spent 9 years on the road and more than $150k on 2 of my previous cars (both are Suzuki models) including petrol, road tax, insurance, car servicing, season parking, ERP charges, maintenance and what not, my wife [THL] and I have decided to sell away our car (a Suzuki SUV).

While we are aware of the withdrawal symptoms (emotionally unbalanced, lack of motivation to get out of the house, feeling somewhat inferior etc) that will follow, we feel that we need to go car-less for a while to see if the 3 (me, my wife and our hyperactive 7 years old son [RK]) of us can really make do without a car.

Despite the many modes of transportation in Singapore (MRT, Taxi, Rental Car, Buses etc), nothing really beats the freedom of owning a car and to be able to travel anywhere, anytime effortlessly (hmm, this only applies if you are not the driver). :)

We feel that 60 days would be sufficient for us to see if we really need to get another car (will be a fuel efficient one this time). I will be posting all our expense and experience (both painful and sweet ones) throughout the 60 days and we will then post a conclusion right after the 60 days without car challenge a.k.a 60DWCC. Stay tuned!

If you are in a similar predicament like ours, it would be nice if you could also share your experience here.
